Making the Most of Your Family Maternity Session: Tips for Including Older Siblings

Why choose a Maternity Session with me?
Your body is literally growing a unique human that you made! If that doesn't deserve a photoshoot, I don't know what does. No pregnancy is the same and every pregnancy is beautiful and every mother deserves to feel beautiful during this special time. So whether this is your first pregnancy or one of many, it’s always a good idea to get maternity photos! It would be my honor to capture that beauty for you as a Chattanooga maternity photographer.
All maternity sessions with me include access to my client closet. I have several maternity and bump-friendly options to choose from or I can see about ordering the dream dress you want to make your maternity photos magical! You are also welcome to wear something of your own or whatever you’re most comfortable wearing. Your maternity session will be fun and you will look and feel beautiful whether you want to dress up like a princess in a big flowy dress or show off your modern, casual style.

How does your maternity photo session work?
And what is included!
Before the Session
The Pre-Session Consultation
We will schedule a quick phone call to discuss exactly what you want from your maternity photo session. We will discuss dates and location options as well as what you want to wear in your maternity photos. After the call, I will send an invoice for your session fee retainer and start planning your session. I am primarily a Chattanooga maternity photographer and also serve the immediate surrounding areas. We can plan your maternity photo session at a location special to you or I'm happy to recommend the perfect Chattanooga location to fit your style.
The Client Closet
I have a small collection of beautiful dresses designed to show off you and your baby bump. Use of these dresses is included as part of your session fee! You are welcome to use one (or more) of the dresses from my client closet or if I don't have exactly what you want, I may be able to rent or buy your dream dress. We will arrange a time for you to come over before your session and try on some dresses so that you can be confident that you'll look beautiful at your session! I'll bring the dress or dresses you select to your session and after the session is over, I will take care of cleaning the dress so it is ready for my next mama!
The Client Experience Prep Guide
One of the ways I make your experience easy and stress-free is by providing a Client Experience Prep Guide that includes styling tips for what to wear, tips on how to get your children excited for the session, and even a sample checklist! I also send you a pre-session questionnaire that helps me plan and prepare for your session so I can ensure you get the most out of our time together. Your time is precious and as a mom myself, I can totally relate. Knowing what to expect and how to prepare helps to make your experience easy and stress-free!
At the Session and Beyond
During your maternity session, we will focus on having fun and exploring the location you've chosen. I will come prepared with poses to perfectly show off your baby bump and prompts to get candid photos that highlight the connection between you and your unborn baby. Your maternity photo session can include additional family members or we can focus solely on you and how uniquely beautiful you are during this time of transition in your life.
After your session, I will edit all the best images from your session and in 2-3 weeks when they are ready, you will get to view a gallery of fully edited images from which to choose your favorites. You will choose which image package to purchase directly from the privacy of your online gallery and this way you see exactly what you're getting and only pay for the images you love!
What does it cost?
The session fee for maternity sessions is $250 and image collections start at $750. Your image collection is selected after you see your fully edited photos in an online gallery. My clients plan to spend a minimum of $1000+ on their photo session after the final images are selected.
Can I share something personal?
I did not have a maternity session for myself and it is one of my biggest regrets. I loved being pregnant and I even loved the way I looked! But now I don’t know if I’ll be able to have any more children and I may not get the opportunity to ever have maternity photos. Even so, my next pregnancy could be different and the photos won’t be the same as they would have been. I wish I could go back and tell myself to get a maternity session when I had the chance!
When you think about it, 9 months is such a short time in your life and you deserve maternity photos to preserve the memory of that time and to show to your future children and grandchildren. The moral of the story is don’t be like me; get the maternity photo session! You will thank me later. I promise.
Maternity Session FAQ
When is the best time to schedule maternity photos?
In general I recommend between 30-35 weeks. This way there is still plenty of time to get the photos back to you before Baby arrives. But anytime during your pregnancy is the best time and if you want them earlier, do it! If you waited until the last minute and just now decided you want them, send me a message anyway and let’s figure it out! I believe maternity photos are that important!
Why should I get maternity photos?
Every pregnancy is different and while it may not feel like it now, these 9 months are such a short time in your life and photos are one of the best ways to keep the memory of this time. You deserve a photoshoot that makes you feel beautiful as your body is literally growing a unique human made by you.
What should I wear?
Anything that makes you feel beautiful! But if you need help, I have a small collection of dresses in my client closet that range from simple to elegant. Let’s discuss your style and figure out what works best for you. You’re welcome to wear one of my pieces or I can possibly order you something special.
Who can be included in my maternity session with me?
We can do a full family session including your husband and/or other children or just do a solo session that focuses solely on you and you baby bump! You can even include your pet!
How much does a maternity session cost?
Each session includes multiple poses and groupings with family members as well as lots of individuals of Mama. Plus, access to the client closet is included! Maternity sessions start with a $250 session fee and you choose which images to purchase only after they've been edited.
