One of the joys of being a family photographer is seeing the photos I create for my clients come back to me in the form of family Christmas cards! As we head into the busy season - as we photographers call it - I know that many of my families are planning to use their photos from our sessions in their holiday card designs this year! That’s why I’m excited to highlight the holiday cards offered by Basic Invite!

But before we get into what makes the holiday cards from Basic Invite so great, let’s discuss why sending a family Christmas card is so important!

Family Christmas Cards

Create A Personal Touch

In this digital age, where communication is often impersonal and fleeting, sending a physical family Christmas card provides a personal touch that stands out. A well-chosen photograph as part of your holiday card design conveys warmth and authenticity, reminding recipients of the love and happiness shared within your family.

Allow You to Connect Across Distances

When families are spread across different cities, states, or even countries, a family Christmas card helps bridge these distances by creating a visual connection. When you send out your beautifully designed holiday cards, you're not just mailing pieces of paper – you're sending a piece of your family's story and allowing family and friends to get a glimpse into your world and feel a stronger connection, no matter how far apart you may be.

Preserve Memories & Spread Joy

Incorporating your cherished photos from the year into family holiday cards gives your loved ones a tangible keepsake to treasure. These holiday cards become a timeline of your family's growth and journey.

The holidays are a time of celebration, and your family photographs have the power to spread joy and warmth. A beautiful holiday card design featuring your favorite family photos can bring smiles to faces and uplift spirits.

Help Keep Traditions Alive

In a rapidly changing world, traditions often ground us and remind us of our roots. By sending out holiday cards year after year, you're not just participating in a time-honored practice; you're also creating a legacy for your family. Your children and their children will be able to look back at these cards and see not only the growth of your family but also the enduring bonds that tie you all together.

Are you convinced to send out a family Christmas card yet?

I know I am. Let me make your job a little easier this year by sharing with you my review of the holiday card designs offered by Basic Invite.

Sample Cards

I ordered 5 custom sample family Christmas cards and they arrived quickly in a beautifully packaged envelope. The 5 sample cards also came with 5 envelopes! I really appreciated being able to see my designs in person and feel the thickness of the paper and the quality of the printed colors, both in my photos and in the design. Speaking of colors, did you know Basic Invite has over 180 colors to choose from? Not only that, but once you choose a design you can adjust the color of every element allowing you to make the card exactly as you want it! This truly sets them apart from almost any other online stationary company.

My 5 sample cards came with 5 plain white envelopes but you can choose from over 40 different colors of envelope for your family Christmas card if you really want to stand out! With so many options, customers can make their envelope match the invitation. Plus, all of Basic Invite’s envelopes are peel and seal so the envelopes can be closed quickly and securely.

Another thing I really liked about Basic Invite’s holiday card designs is that they offer gold, silver, or rose gold foil in many of their designs. And if you know me, you know I love all things shiny and sparkly. You can choose flat or raised foil on all of Basic Invite’s foil designs.

Bonus, the holiday card designs had fun and festive backgrounds! I love it when a design is thoughtful and thorough. Little details like these really elevate your family's Christmas card.

The best feature, IMO

In my opinion, the best (and most time-saving) feature of Basic Invite’s holiday cards is their Address Capturing Service. This is seriously the coolest thing for a busy mom like me. The Address Capturing Service allows you to share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media to request your friends and family’s addresses. The addresses are stored for you in your account and can be selected during the design process. It gets even better because Basic Invite offers recipient address printing at no cost on all card orders!

Honestly, the collecting of addresses and then getting the addresses on the envelopes is probably the single greatest obstacle that has kept me from sending out cards myself. I’m telling y’all, this is my year! Be watching out for my link on social media so you can give me your address if you want to get a card from me this year!

It's a chance to connect, to share in the joys of the season, and to show appreciation for the relationships that enrich our lives. In a world that's becoming increasingly digital, holiday cards stand as a tangible reminder of the beauty of human connection. So, as the 2024 holiday season approaches, take a moment to reflect on the importance of sending family Christmas cards – not just as a gesture, but as a heartfelt way to spread love, create memories, and strengthen the bonds that truly matter.
