Breastfeeding Mamas
As a mother who wasn't sure I was going to be able to breastfeed but thankfully ended up breastfeeding my daughter until she was 9 months old, I was so excited when this mama reached out wanting to do a boho breastfeeding session in Chattanooga. Like mine, at 9-months-old her baby was starting to lose interest in breastfeeding and this mama noticed her milk supply was dropping, so she wanted to get a photoshoot ASAP to commemorate the special bond she shared with her baby. And especially because she expected this baby to be her last. Thankfully she was able to book a breastfeeding session with me right away and capture these precious memories!
This beautiful tattooed mama and her adorable baby boy were a dream to work with. We immediately hit it off and were on the same page when it came to the natural boho style she wanted. In fact, I ordered the dress she’s wearing specifically for this session. (It's now available in my client closet. I also have it in blue!) There was a bit of drama with Amazon losing the original package and having to reorder (hence the now available blue option) but doesn’t she look gorgeous?
Her sweet son made the perfect baby model — I couldn’t get enough of his big blue eyes! As for the setting, I scouted the perfect location near the West Chickamauga Creek canoe launch. This particular spot offered plenty of privacy while allowing the sunset to peek through the trees and tall grass. It all worked together to create a beautiful, natural backdrop for this boho breastfeeding session.
Since this was her fourth and final baby, this mama knew she wouldn’t have another chance to get these photos. Even though her baby was only 9-months-old and she really wanted to continue breastfeeding until he was a year, Mama was finding it difficult to keep up with pumping while at work. As a working mom myself, I could totally relate because my daughter went through something very similar at that age. It’s such a bittersweet moment to realize that your breastfeeding journey is coming to an end, which is why it’s so important to preserve these special memories! A photo session is the perfect way to do just that. One of the reasons why I love what I do so much is because I get to capture the genuine emotions behind these precious moments and provide a way for individuals and families to remember them for a long time to come!
