What is it like to have an extended family photo session with me?

As an extended family photographer in Chattanooga, I like to keep things stress-free and fun! I plan every session unique to you and your family by sending out a pre-session questionnaire so that I can plan to get all the group shots and combinations you want without you needing to worry about whether we got it all. This means you get to focus on spending time and having fun with your family while I take care of the rest.

I come from a large family myself so I understand the unique struggles of getting everyone together for photos! I'm also very patient and experienced with children. So don't worry if your family has a lot of them! I've got a few tricks up my sleeve for kids (and Dads too!) I will direct your session so that everyone knows where to stand and when it's their turn. I will also come prepared with ideas and prompts to get those genuine, natural smiles from everyone. You can expect your extended family photos to be full of laughter and fun!

How does an extended family session work?

I plan your session so that we move from shot to shot efficiently and to make sure we cover all the photos you want. Your extended family session will almost feel like a mini session for every family involved because in addition to the large group shots, I also plan to get each family individually. I also plan several special combinations and even individuals of the kids if there is time. We can plan your extended family photo session at a location special to you and your family or I'm happy to scout the perfect location to accommodate your group. Do you need extended family photos outside of the Chattanooga area? Good news - I travel! Send me a message to discuss your situation.

What does an extended family session cost?

Because extended family sessions take extra time and generally include larger galleries that tell a story, I simplify the process by only offering one all-inclusive option for extended families. Pricing for extended family sessions covers all the pre-session planning, the Client Experience Guide that gets sent after booking, and all of the edited, high-resolution digital images from your session available to the entire family. This way everyone can enjoy their favorite images and you don't have to worry about making sure everyone gets a say in the final selection because it's all included! The all-inclusive price is $1550 and even includes a $600 credit to spend in the print store so that you can order prints, wall art, or even an album from your session! Half of the session cost is due to schedule your session and the other half is due 1 week before the session. If you need to break up the payments into smaller increments, let me know and we can work it out!

Family Session FAQ

What does an extended family session cost?

Each extended family session includes multiple large group poses as well as smaller group combinations and each individual family. It's like a mini session for each family plus photos with all the extra family members too! Extended family sessions are all-inclusive so that everyone gets to keep their favorites! The all-inclusive cost of an extended family session experience is $1550.

How many images will I get?

It ultimately depends on how large your group is and how long we spend taking photos. I guarantee 60+ images but extended family galleries can easily have more than that.

What if the kids won't cooperate?

It certainly wouldn't be the first time I've worked with kids who weren't interested in having their photos taken on a particular day. But don't worry, I've got some tricks up my sleeve when it comes to working with children and am very patient and understanding. If you've got specific concerns unique to your children, let's talk! I'm sure we can work something out.

When is the best time to get family photos?

Anytime! Each season is beautiful in its own way but Spring and Fall are particularly busy seasons so it's best to go ahead and book if you'd like photos at a specific time of year. As far as time of day goes, the last 2 hours before sunset is generally the best.

Can we get extended family photos at our family home?

Of course! I often recommend getting your extended family photos at a location special to your family. Let me know if you have a special location in mind already so we can plan around that.

I still have questions.
