What is it like to have an extended family photo session with me?

As an extended family photographer for Marietta, my goal is to make large group sessions feel organized, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable. Extended family sessions are planned in advance with intention, so nothing feels rushed or chaotic on the day of your session.

Before your session, you’ll complete a short questionnaire that helps map out groupings and must-have combinations ahead of time. That planning allows the session to flow smoothly, so you can stay present with your family while everything else is handled for you.

Extended family sessions often involve a wide range of ages and personalities, and that’s where experience matters. With clear direction, thoughtful pacing, and a calm approach, everyone knows where to be and what’s happening next. The result is a session that feels easy, even with a large group, and images that reflect real connection rather than forced smiles.

You can expect your extended family photos to feel natural, well-guided, and full of genuine moments—images designed to be enjoyed now and treasured for generations.

How does an extended family session work?

Extended family sessions are planned carefully so the time together feels organized and relaxed. Before the session, groupings and must-have combinations are mapped out in advance, allowing the session to move efficiently from one setup to the next without anyone feeling rushed or unsure of what’s happening.

During the session, time is structured to include photos of the full group as well as individual family units. This approach allows each family to walk away with meaningful images of their own, in addition to the larger group portraits.

Sessions can take place at a location that’s meaningful to your family, or a location can be selected that best accommodates the size and flow of the group. Extended family sessions are also available outside the Marietta area, and travel options can be discussed as needed.

What does an extended family session cost?

Extended family sessions are only offered as a single, all-inclusive experience designed to keep planning simple and stress-free for everyone involved. The all-inclusive price is $2,400 and includes all pre-session planning, a detailed Client Experience Prep Guide, and a full gallery of edited, high-resolution digital images to share and download.

Images are delivered in an online gallery that makes it easy for the entire family to access and enjoy, without the need to narrow selections or leave one person responsible to make decisions on behalf of a large group.

An $800 print credit is also included to be used toward professional prints, wall art, or albums, allowing your images to be enjoyed in tangible, lasting ways.

A retainer of half the session investment is required to reserve your date, with the remaining balance due two weeks before the session. Flexible payment arrangements are available upon request.

Extended Family Session FAQ

What does an extended family session cost?

Extended family sessions are offered as a single, all-inclusive experience. The investment is $2,400 and includes the full gallery of edited images, along with an $800 print credit for artwork such as prints, wall art, or albums.

This structure allows every family involved to enjoy the images without needing to divide selections or make compromises.

How many images will I get?

Extended family galleries vary based on group size and the combinations included. Rather than aiming for a specific number, the goal is to deliver a complete gallery that thoughtfully documents the full group, individual families, and key moments from the session.

What if the kids don't cooperate?

I have a lot of experience working with kids of all ages and temperaments, and I keep sessions moving in a way that helps them feel comfortable without pressure to perform for the camera.

If there’s anything helpful for me to know ahead of time, you’re always welcome to share it during planning.

When is the best time to get extended family photos?

Anytime your family is together is a great time. Spring and fall are popular and tend to fill quickly, so booking early helps if you have a specific season in mind. Outdoor sessions are typically scheduled in the last 2 hours before sunset for the best light.

Can we get extended family photos at our family home?

Yes, absolutely. In fact, I recommend it whenever possible. Photographing your family at a meaningful location can make the session even more personal. If you have a specific place in mind, just share the details ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.

Can we get extended family photos while on vacation?

Absolutely! Whether you're visiting the Atlanta area or traveling elsewhere, anytime the family is together is a great time for photos. Extended family photos can be taken at your vacation rental or a location nearby. I also travel if your family is meeting somewhere outside of the Atlanta area. Travel fees may apply.
